Do you have what it takes?

Sun Zhu’s Art of War has been used for decades as a comparison between generals in the battlefield and business executives in the boardroom. As a young executive commanding much older men in the field of business, I can attest to the validity of this comparison. My name is Nicholas “Nicky” Cowherd. I’m the Chairman/CEO of XXIV Karat Wines, the first gold flaked sparkling wine in the world. My number one responsibility is motivating my troops. As a business owner, your people are the lifeblood of your organization, even though we sometimes like to think of ourselves in that light. When operating a small business, things can get upside down quickly and motivation can easily disintegrate. However as the captain, your most important job is to stay positive in the face of adversity. Staying positive is not only important for yourself, but also for your troops, who are often much older. If you, as the leader, remain confident that you will instill that power within your entire company, you will ultimately overcome the opposition and succeed.
